Jorginho makes Thomas Tuchel admission as Chelsea yet to approach Milan over transfer target

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Thursday, April 1.

Ferdinand makes controversial claim over Lampard and Gerrard

Rio Ferdinand would have taken Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in his prime over both Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes.

It’s an infamous debate amongst football fans about who was the best out of the extremely talented trio.

Ferdinand, who played with all three at international level – and Scholes with Manchester United – believes Lampard was the most effective player out of all of them.

He said on his Vibe with FIVE YouTube channel,: “If I’m a manager I take Frank because he’s going to get me 20 (goals) a year. As a manager I want them to define matches, he’s going to get me 20 and probably double-figures in assists.”

Jorginho makes Tuchel admission

Chelsea have been in fine form since Thomas Tuchel took over as manager in January and Jorginho believes the rotation the German has utilised has been key in that.

The Blues are still unbeaten under Tuchel, with the Italian midfielder starting 10 games under his new boss.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, the Chelsea midfielder said this on his new manager: “I think that having a starting XI that changes a lot is good for the team.

“Because that means that we have a lot of high-level players, of great quality, and whoever enters the pitch needs to do their best, to win.

“This ends up making it difficult for the coach to make choices, but I think it’s positive. It increases competitiveness even in training, because we cannot relax; we need to be at our maximum physical level, be concentrated, always up there.

“If you let your guard down, you can stay out of one or two games, because the other players will be focused there.”

Donnarumma makes transfer demands clear

AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has told the Italian club of his demands if he is to sign a new contract.

Donnarumma ‘s deal at Milan is due to expire at the end of the season and the talented shot-stopper has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, his agent Mino Raiola is yet to receive any interest from the Blues.

It’s also claimed that Milan are ‘confident’ of reaching a new deal with the goalkeeper, but he wants a release clause included, which could be holding up any agreement.

The lack of interest from elsewhere at this stage is likely because Donnarumma has said himself that he wants to remain at AC Milan head into next season.
