Jorginho’s agent makes major Chelsea transfer admission amid Ballon d’Or claims

The agent of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has suggested that the Italian could be set to look for a move away from Stamford Bridge should his contract in west London not be extended.

The Italian has been in excellent form throughout 2021, playing a key role in Thomas Tuchel’s system as Chelsea lifted the Champions League.

He has carried that form onto the international stage by also having a huge impact for Italy as they reached the Euro 2020 final against England.

Jorginho’s performances have been hailed, with both teammate Lorenzo Insigne and former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri talking up his chances of being a contender for the Ballon d’Or come the end of the year.

Despite his excellent displays, the 29-year-old is edging towards the end of his Stamford Bridge contract and as it stands has just two years left as a Chelsea player having penned a five-year deal following a move from Napoli.

His agent João Santos, has suggested that should no renewal be forthcoming in the near future, the Italian would be tempted by a move back to his former club.

Talking to Radio CRC, he said: “Jorginho won the Champions League and has now become a strong point in Italy too. He has earned everything on the pitch, sweating every victory, always giving his all on the pitch.

The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.

“He wants to extend his contract with the English club, but, if he cannot do it, he’ll think about returning to Serie A, perhaps at Napoli.”

As it stands, Jorginho has made 141 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring 17 goals.

In that time, he has lifted the Champions League title, as well as the Europa League under former boss Sarri in 2019.
