Here are your Tottenham evening headlines for Monday, March 22.
Mourinho backed by Spurs star
It has been a difficult week for Tottenham and Jose Mourinho.
After losing the north London derby against Arsenal, Spurs suffered a humiliating Europa League exit at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb, despite having a 2-0 advantage going into the second leg.
That led to increased speculation over the future of Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho as Spurs’ push for a top four spot in the Premier League continued to falter.
However, after a 2-0 win against Aston Villa last night, the Spurs boss has been backed by Lucas, who has been a rare positive in recent weeks for Spurs with his form.
Indeed, he said the players are behind their head coach.
“We are all together. We’re in the same boat. We lose together, we win together. What happened in Croatia was our fault. Everyone in included,” he said.
“When we’re on the pitch, we just want to win. We know there are a lot of fans behind the TV supporting us. We play for our family, we play for pride and we’re all together.
“We believe in the coach. We believe in the coach because we know his history. We just want to be successful here.”
Harry Kane prediction made
Tottenham star Harry Kane has been tipped to successfully beat Alan Shearer’s record of being the highest goalscorer in Premier League history.
Kane netted the second goal in the win, which was his 160th Premier League strike, putting him 100 behind the record currently held by Shearer.
And although Kane’s future at Tottenham has been the subject of much speculation, with Jermaine Jenas suggesting that he would easily surpass the record if he played for Manchester City, Redknapp has a slightly different view.
He said: “As long as he stays in this country, yes,” Redknapp told Sky Sports when asked if Kane could successfully catch Shearer’s long-standing record and overtake him.
“He has got to score 25 goals a season for the next four seasons – of course he can do that.
“He was born to score.
“He gets in the right areas. Of course, he is playing slightly deeper, but he is still getting his goals and having goal involvements as well.
“He will break that Alan Shearer record, make no mistake about it. It is just a matter of time.”

Spurs’ warning for Chelsea
Tottenham boosted their chances of a top four finish with the 2-0 win at Villa Park last night.
Spurs are now back within three points of Chelsea in fourth place as we head into the international break, and speaking on his podcast, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes that the win over Villa will send a warning to Thomas Tuchel ‘s men at just the right time.
“It was absolutely crucial. I think it determines the last couple of months of the season, I think it was that big a game for Spurs,
“Going into that sixth-place, a point behind West Ham, three behind Chelsea, gives Jose Mourinho the feeling that he might still do something really good in the league this season.
“If they hadn’t have won here tonight, then they’d have obviously been too far away. Just looking at the bench there, with Joe Hart, Bale, Sissoko, Dier, Dele Alli, Bergwijn, Ben Davies.”
