‘Just do it’ – Arsenal fans make £50m Gabriel Jesus transfer demand after Champions League show

Arsenal are on the lookout for a striker this summer in an attempt to improve their squad heading into next season. Mikel Arteta has the challenge of juggling his options over the summer, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah set to be free agents in a few months.

Discussing the need for a striker this summer, the Spaniard said: “We need one who puts the ball in the net, that’s priority number one. Any successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad.”

A number of players have been linked with a move to the Emirates, with the latest being Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian worked with Arteta for a few years when the manager was an assistant coach at the Etihad Stadium.

The 26-year-old’s contract with City runs until 2023, opening a potential exit in the summer. He will also be hoping to be part of the Brazil squad heading to the Qatar World Cup later this year, with more game time potentially needed to be involved.

On his return to the first team, the striker has now scored five goals in his last two appearances, scoring four against Watford and one against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday.

Arsenal fans have since taken to social media to urge their club to sign Jesus:

@AFCReiner: “Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal. He´s 25m, but if we have to pay 50m, then @Arsenal just do it.”
