Manuel Locatelli has certainly impressed during EURO 2020, but Arsenal, who are rumoured to be long-term admirers of the Italian, may well miss out on one of their main transfer targets this summer.
Currently playing his club football at Sassuolo, the 23-year-old has no shortage of options if he hopes to seal a move to a bigger club in the near future.
Juventus are touted as his most likely destination and they are reportedly set to meet with Sassuolo executives next week to work out all the details of any potential move – with the midfielder expected to start in Italy’s Euro 2020 final against England on Sunday.
According to a report in Gazzetta dello Sport, if Juve are to seal the deal they must match Arsenal’s transfer offer of €40million (£34.2million).
The report claims that a move for Locatelli will be “will be the only madness” Juventus will indulge in this summer, with any other transfers only occurring after the sale of some of their current squad members.
Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali and Juventus director Federico Cherubini will soon meet in hopes of coming to an agreement.
However, if Juventus do not offer the required fee, there may be hope for Arsenal yet. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Arsenal are ready, waiting in the wings, if the deal does fall through.
Premier League supporters were welcomed back to grounds across the country towards the end of last season and hope reigns eternal that the 2021/22 season will go by without disruptions.
Memberships are available, which reduces the prices for tickets bought thereafter. A full breakdown of how much tickets cost for Category A, B and C games can be found here.
Appearing on the Don Robbie Podcast, Romano said: “Locatelli wants to join Juventus, but he isn’t refusing Arsenal. He has the dream of playing Champions League football and joining Juventus because he is Italian.
“But, if they can’t find an agreement, Sassuolo would be open to accepting bids from Arsenal, it will be up to the player.
“So keep an eye on Arsenal, because they are just waiting. They are respecting the player.”
