UEFA Champions League action returns to Paramount+ on Wednesday as Juventus welcome Chelsea to Northern Italy for a marquee Matchday 2 clash. First place in Group H is on the line after Juve won their opener, 3-0 against Malmo, to lead the group on goal difference. The Blues, meanwhile, are on three points after their 1-0 win over Zenit thanks to a Romelu Lukaku second-half winner. A draw for Juve will keep them in first place, while the winner will be alone atop the group a third of the way through this stage.

Storylines

Juve: There are serious questions in attack for Juve. First, they just haven’t been very good, but now they face Chelsea without both Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata. That’s a bad sign considering they are the only two players to score multiple goals for the team this season. Both have three, two in the league and one in Champions League. Without them, Juve will likely turn to Moise Kean and Dejan Kulusevski, with the latter yet to score this season.

Chelsea: Lot of news out of the club on Tuesday with Christian Pulisic still out due to injury and N’Golo Kante now out after having tested positive for COVID-19. The Pulisic absence isn’t as big as the Kante one, but the team has so much depth and should be fine. Expect Hakim Ziyech to possibly play in attack with Kai Havertz and Romelu Lukaku, as Mason Mount is also still banged up and questionable. In the middle, it will likely be Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic dealing with a Juve midfield it may just be able to dominate.

Prediction

The absences for Chelsea sees them struggle a bit in the middle, but in the end it’s a quality road draw as Hakim Ziyech bags the equalizer. Pick: Juventus 1, Chelsea 1
