Kieran Tierney has already issued a one-word verdict as Edu decides Arsenal’s next transfer move

A reunion could be on the cards at Arsenal this summer.

Whilst it has been a disappointing campaign for the Gunners, it would appear technical director Edu is doing work behind the scenes to bolster Mikel Arteta‘s first-team squad in the upcoming transfer window.

The latest name being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium is that of Moussa Dembele.

Currently on loan in Spain with Atletico Madrid, but it remains unclear as to whether the La Liga leaders will choose to exercise their £30m option to sign the Frenchman permanently due to his fitness issues and lack of playing time.

With that said, a return to Lyon seems unlikely following Sporting Director Juninho’s admission in the January transfer window.

“Moussa [Dembele] came to see me, he thinks that this is the moment to change teams, that he has lost a bit of motivation, this was not something we foresaw, I like him a lot,” the Brazilian said.

As a result, Arsenal are reportedly monitoring his situation, and believe Dembele will be available for a fee in the region of £25million, as per Telegraph Sport.

Of course, if the Gunners do manage to seal a deal for the striker then he will be reunited with Kieran Tierney from his Celtic days.

And the Scotland international has already explained why signing Dembele would be a fantastic idea.

“He is brilliant, Moussa,” Tierney told the Glasgow Times back in 2018. “I remember one game where I fired a ball up to him and he took it on the chest and made a terrible ball from me look so simple.

“It actually finished up making me look good. Having somebody like that in your team is brilliant.”

Dembele could end up being the perfect replacement for Alexandre Lacazette at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The current Gunners no.9 is approaching the final 12 months of his contract at and whilst a summer exit would make sense for all parties, Mikel Arteta has hinted that a concrete decision will be made at the end of the season.

“I think he’s been in really good form for months now. He’s sustaining that level. He’s scoring goals and providing the team with something different as well,” said Arteta at a press conference last month.

“His work rate has been phenomenal and that’s what we want.

“We need those types of players hitting the best what we level and we want to have the chance to do that.

“Over the course of the season we’ve been missing goals and creativity in the final third and we need those players to step in and make the difference for the team.”
