Kylian Mbappe encouraged to join Arsenal as second summer deal is confirmed

Here is your morning Arsenal digest on Wednesday, July 7.

Mbappe encouraged to move to Arsenal

Without Champions League football, an Arsenal switch for Kylian Mbappe always looked unlikely.

However, that has not stopped former Gunners forward Nicolas Anelka from encouraging the current Paris Saint-Germain superstar to move to North London.

Writing in The Athletic, he said: “The French league is not easy, don’t get me wrong, but I think the toughest league is in England.

“So, if you want to be one of the best, then do what you do in Paris but with Chelsea or United or Arsenal or Manchester City or Liverpool.”

Aouar releases transfer statement

One man who could potentially be a more realistic target is Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

Arsenal have been linked to the 23-year-old in the past and it was reported that he had missed pre-season training to force through a move.

He refuted such rumours in a statement on social media, stating that the suggestions were ‘fake news’.

Guendouzi deal confirmed

Away from speculation, Matteo Guendouzi has said his goodbyes to Arsenal ahead of his loan to join Marseille, something which the French club have also confirmed.

The summer window is officially open, and it’s going to be tough to keep up with the comings and goings in and out of the Emirates.

The Ligue 1 outfit have inserted an option in the agreement to make the deal permanent come the end of the 2021/22 season.

He could be the second player to swap Arsenal for Marseille, with William Saliba also thought to be close to arriving at the Stade Velodrome.
