Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Donny van de Beek plea, Dusan Vlahovic verdict

Confidence will be growing around Arsenal that European football will be secured for next season – but there is still a long way to go.

Three successive Premier League defeats have since been followed up with 10 games without defeat in all competitions and Mikel Arteta’s men now sit just two points outside the top four.

They will have the chance to leapfrog Liverpool after the international break too but maintaining that form will be essential to gaining a European spot.

The January transfer window may well be decisive and, with that in mind, football.london runs you through all the latest news and rumours from the Emirates.

Who?

Dusan Vlahovic

Where?

FIFA

What?

Fiorentina striker Vlahovic is one of Europe’s hottest footballing properties and his Serbia teammate Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has given him a glowing reference as Arsenal continue to monitor his situation.

“He’s not good, he’s outstanding. I’m quite certain the stats would back that up, considering his age. However, I think he’s the type of player who still gets annoyed when he doesn’t play well, so he’s definitely going to get better and get the world talking about him. Which is something I like about him,” Milinkovic-Savic told FIFA.

“In both training and matches, he never takes it lightly when he misses a chance, so he has a hunger for scoring goals and winning. I like how he wants to prove himself, so I think he’s bound to become one of the greats.”

Who?

Folarin Balogun

Where?

Alan Nixon

What?

Hale End graduate Balogun has had limited opportunities in the Arsenal first-team under Mikel Arteta and there is growing speculation that he will be sent out on loan in January.

The club worked hard to tie the striker to a new contract over the summer but he has failed to threaten the positions of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette.

Alan Nixon of The Sun reported that Middlesbrough manager Chris Wilder is interested in bringing him to the Championship for the second half of the season.

“Middlesbrough. Wilder keen on young striker Balogun at Arsenal if he can get him out on loan next window,” the journalist tweeted on Sunday.

Who?

Donny van de Beek

Where?

The Highbury Squad

What?

Donny van de Beek is expected to leave Manchester United in January unless he sees his game time increase dramatically under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Arsenal have previously been linked with a move for the out of favour midfielder and now former Gunner Kevin Campbell has urged his old club to move for him.

“I only want what’s best for Arsenal and I believe Donny van de Beek can play if given the opportunity,” he said.

“The boy can play. He wants out. I think this young man has super ability.

“He can play anywhere around the midfield – holding, at eight, and he can play attacking. We’ve got another one who is versatile – a plug-and-play player for us.”
