Tottenham have made contact with Houssem Aouar’s agent over a possible move this month.

That’s according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who said this on The Arsenal Lounge : “Aouar is a player they (Arsenal) love. They like Aouar. They are still waiting to see what happens with Lyon.

“It is a completely different situation when they wanted the player last summer, but it was not easy to find an agreement with the player and Lyon at the end of the window.

“But now he could still be an opportunity for Arsenal and for Tottenham. They are both in contact with his agent.

“So, they are still looking at the situation, and if Lyon will give the green light in the coming days, he could become an option for Arsenal too.”

Aouar, who is reportedly available for around £25million this summer, has under two years remaining on his deal with Lyon – who could look to sell the France international due to his contractual situation.

The 23-year-old has caught the eye for the Ligue 1 club with some mouthwatering performances domestically, as well as the Champions League.

Aouar has impressed some huge names in the world of football during the past couple of seasons – including Lionel Messi and Kevin De Bruyne, who are in agreement over the reported Spurs target.

Messi, when asked about his list of top 15 young players to watch in 2020, said this on Aouar: “He is always calm with the ball at his feet and has excellent technical quality.”

Meanwhile, De Bruyne, when asked about Lyon following Manchester City’s Champions League quarter-final defeat to the French club last year, said: “Lyon have a great team.

“I don’t follow the French league as much as other leagues, but if I have to pick one player that has impressed me from Lyon, it would be Houssem Aouar. He was fantastic.”

Aouar has been linked with a move to Tottenham’s north London rivals Arsenal in recent transfer windows and reportedly came close to making a move to the Emirates Stadium last summer.
