Liverpool return to Premier League action on Thursday as the second-place Reds host 10th-place Leicester City. Jurgen Klopp’s team are 14-6-2 and entered the week nine points behind leaders Manchester City with a game in hand, but they find themselves now 12 back after City’s win over Brentford on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Foxes have just one win in their last four league games, sitting at 7-5-8. A win for the Reds can see them keep pace with City, while the Foxes need a victory if they are to truly push for European places.

Team news

Liverpool: The Reds are boosted by the return of Mohamed Salah after the attacker returned from the Africa Cup of Nations following Egypt’s loss to Senegal in the final. Sadio Mane, who won the cup with Senegal, is not set to feature in this game, according to the club. Additionally, midfielder Jordan Henderson looks set to miss due to a back issue.

Leicester: Massive news for the club as Wesley Fofana’s return is getting closer, but it won’t be here. He’s set to resume full training with the club next week, according to the Leicester Mercury. The center-back hasn’t played in six months after breaking his leg and hurting his ankle. Meanwhile, Jamie Vardy, Jonny Evans and Timothy Castange are all out until March.

Prediction

The Reds, Salah back, take care of the Foxes once again with a clinical second half.  Pick: Liverpool 3, Leicester 1
