Anfield will play host to a massive Premier League game on Saturday as Liverpool host West Ham. The Reds are six points back of leaders Manchester City, but Jurgen Klopp’s team have a game in hand, and they need a victory here to keep pace. Meanwhile, West Ham are in the race for the top four, entering the day just two points behind Manchester United. A win combined with a United draw would see the Hammers finish the weekend in fourth.

Storylines

Liverpool: The Reds look set to be without midfield creator Thiago Alcantara due to that hamstring injury he picked up ahead of the League Cup final, while Joel Matip is dealing with an illness, according to the Evening Standard. With a trophy already secured, the focus now shifts to looking to stay within striking distance of Manchester City. To do that, a win here will be needed.

West Ham: Ryan Fredericks and Arthur Masuaku are nearing their returns, while star midfielder Tomas Soucek is dealing with a head injury that required stitches. Other than that, the team enters this match healthy and looking to bounce back from their FA Cup elimination on Wednesday to Southampton. A victory, combined with Manchester United failing to beat Manchester City on Sunday, will see the Hammers move back into the top four.

Prediction

The Reds roll to a convincing win with two goals in the first half as West Ham don’t come close to pulling off the upset. Pick: Liverpool 3, West Ham 1 (Liverpool -345; Over 3.5)
