Lucas Moura reveals what Tottenham now must do to get season back on track

Lucas Moura has outlined what Tottenham Hotspur need to do to climb the Premier League table.

Spurs started the season in fine form, recording three 1-0 wins in a row, defeating Manchester City, Wolves and Watford in the process.

However, they soon faltered, losing 3-0 away to Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace before Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea inflicted the same scoreline upon them a week later.

The Lillywhites then had a chance to turn their fortunes around against local rivals Arsenal but struggled in the first half as the Gunners clinched a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side were able to stop the rut a week later, defeating Aston Villa 2-1 before the current international break offered some respite.

Now, Spurs forward Moura has claimed that he will continue to give 100% for the north Londoners, admitting that the win against Villa was vital in the quest to get their season back on track.

“I love this game,” the Brazilian told the club’s official website.

“I love what I do. I love football, and I’m always available, always ready to give 100 per cent for the team and for the Club. My job is what I love to do.

“We need to have this mentality, to give our best, especially for the fans, now we have the fans back. That’s massive for us, and we need to give 100 per cent for them. It’s time to shine, time to think about big things this season.”

“We needed that win (against Villa),” Lucas reflected. “It was a very good game, and we deserved the three points. The lads kept going and if we continue to do the same, we can improve a lot and keep going in a winning way.

“Every game is a war in the Premier League. We need to perform, to give 100 per cent, nothing less. We are very strong, we need to trust in ourselves and believe that we can go out, perform, win games and move up the table, that’s our objective.”
