Tottenham fans will be hoping to see Lucas Moura’s new celebration quite a few more times between now and the end of the season.
Now getting a decent run in the starting XI after previously playing a bit-part role under Jose Mourinho in the first few months of the campaign, the Brazilian has netted three goals in his last four games.
As Erik Lamela, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso look set to fight it out with their teammate for the No.10 position as Spurs aim for a strong end to the season, Lucas is definitely making his case to start there every week.
Putting his hands in the air before Harry Kane and Gareth Bale came over to congratulate him after scoring Tottenham’s third against Burnley, it was what the ex-Paris Saint-Germain ace did for Bale’s double that caused quite a few laughs amongst Tottenham fans.
With the Wales international once again doing his ‘W’ celebration, Lucas instead decided to do something different and produced an ‘L’ instead.
The TV cameras picked up on Bale giving his teammate a bit of a dirty look after getting a quick glance of what he was doing, before later laughing and giving him a hug.
The 31-year-old was then spotted jokingly waving his finger directly at the camera after his second goal with Lucas opting to do the same again.
While it wasn’t clear what his celebration stood for initially, Bale cleared it up when speaking to Spurs TV after the comfortable win.
“Because everyone is saying ours is Welsh Mafia, he’s decided to go with just Lucas,” he explained while struggling to contain his laughter.
In tribute to Spurs’ Welsh Mafia, the club uploaded an image to Instagram of both Bale and teammate Ben Davies doing their ‘WM celebration’ that they have recently showcased in games.
Clearly not wanting to pass up such a good opportunity, Lucas quickly commented on the Instagram post with just an ‘L’.

Getting over 7,000 likes and a number of fans replying to his brilliant response, Bale later commented underneath with a laughing emoji and a thumps up.
Given Bale is on a very good run at present with four goals in his last four games, expect to be seeing Lucas gatecrashing his celebration quite a few more times if he can keep up his excellent recent form in front of goal.
Following such a poor run of results in the league prior to the Burnley win, spirits seem to be very high in the camp and that only bodes well ahead of the final push for a Champions League place.
