Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Tuesday, July 13.
Blues chase Griezmann deal
The Spanish giants are in desperate need of being able to cut their cloth this summer in order to fall back in line with strict La Liga financial fair play rules, meaning they will have to offload some of their star performers this summer to avoid big punishments.
And one option to them is to offload Griezmann, with them looking to send him out on loan for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign.
Chelsea, according to the report, have been the club ‘most active in recent days’ in regards to chasing his signature, but Griezmann would prefer a move to former club Atletico Madrid.
However, Atletico’s hopes of re-signing the Frenchman could be dented by financial complications, potentially opening the door for Chelsea to win the race for his signature.
Tuchel’s pre-season to-do list
Now that the European Championship and the Copa America have reached their conclusion, domestic matters are the point of focus and attention, meaning it is now full steam ahead to the start of the new Premier League season.
For Chelsea, the 2021/22 campaign will represent head coach Thomas Tuchel’s first full season in the job, meaning he has plenty to get his teeth into this summer ahead of the start of the new season.
Whilst, for the fans, the arrival of new additions to the squad will be the most exciting part of the close-season, Tuchel has plenty of other tasks to undertake, opposed to just integrating new signings into his squad.
Amongst the challenges lying ahead for the German are him deciding on his preferred formation and system, looking at those who have recently returned from loan spells and may have a part to play in his plans, and addressing the future of Tammy Abraham.

Haaland move planned
Chelsea are preparing to make a “big offer” to test Borussia Dortmund’s resolve in regards to their pursuit of striker Erling Haaland, according to former Norway international Jan Aage Fjortoft.
Signing Haaland, who netted 41 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions during the 2020/21 season, is a top priority for Tuchel this summer as he looks to strengthen his attacking options.
The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.

Despite Dortmund making it clear that they have no plans to sell the striker this summer, respected German football expert Fjortoft insists Chelsea are ready to make a “big offer” and that Dortmund would sell Haaland for around €175million [£149.6m].
Considering Dortmund could lose Haaland for around £65million next year when his release clause becomes active, it is unlikely that they would stand in Chelsea’s way if such a huge offer was submitted.
