Mikel Arteta handed fresh Arsenal concern ahead of Crystal Palace after injury development

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could well have something else to think about ahead of the Gunners’ clash with Crystal Palace with Eberechi Eze having returned to training.

The Palace winger, who has been missing since the end of last season having suffered a painful achilles injury, was spotted having returned to training with Patrick Vieira’s men.

In a tweet shared on the club’s official account, it stated that Eze was able to participate in ‘parts of training’, suggesting that he is not quite yet back to full fitness.

It of course remains to be seen whether he will be available to return as Arsenal host Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Monday, October 18, but it will certainly give Arteta far more to consider ahead of the game.

After signing for the Eagles from Queens Park Rangers last summer, Eze went on to become one of the south London club’s standout players.

The 23-year-old scored four goals and notched six assists in his debut Premier League season before his injury – that following a highly impressive campaign in the Championship when he scored on 14 occasions for QPR.

Eze, a former Arsenal trainee, has previously expressed his excitement at returning to action – although whether that comes against the Gunners, in just over a week and a half’s time remains to be seen.

Talking to Premier League Productions last month, the England U21 international said: “The day I come back is going to be beautiful for me.

“A beautiful experience stepping out with the fans. I haven’t experienced all the fans before. It’s going to be like my debut all over again. Amazing.”

He has played at the Emirates once before as the Eagles, then under the tutelage of Roy Hodgson, secured a point with a 0-0 draw back in January.
