Mikel Arteta’s handling of the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang situation has sent a message to the Kroenke’s.
Aubameyang has been relieved from his duties as Arsenal captain following a disciplinary breach ahead of the match against Southampton at the Weekend.
Arteta has been open and honest with the situation since it first emerged, which has given fans a sense of security.
This is a notion that the Kroenke family have consistently failed to do in the past, however, they can definitely learn from the way Arteta is handling this particular incident.
Addressing the Aubameyang saga during Tuesday’s press conference, Arteta was insistent on being honest with the fans to help with the teams’ progression.
He said: “To close on this speculation and try to be transparent and clear of what we have done. I think it was the right decision, and the team can be fully focused on the game tomorrow, as that is vital for us.”
Arsenal fans have been in the loop during the Aubameyang captaincy situation, preventing negative energy from entering the club from the outside.
The Kroenke’s have been notoriously criticised for failing to do this in the past, which was proven with their decision to admit the club into a European Super League without giving a hint of consultation with the supporters.
This led to a lot of negativity towards the club before having a direct impact on the players, with the Gunners finishing eighth in that season. They were also unable to progress past the Europa League semi-final, which took place shortly after the European Super League announcement.
Fans were clear about their displeasure towards the Kroenke’s, and Arteta could have risked repeating that if he wasn’t transparent with his decisions concerning Aubameyang.
Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery also created a negative feeling in the past, when they were not clear with certain decisions made, especially with the exclusion of Mesut Ozil.
However, Arteta has learned from these mistakes and his decision-making in the Aubameyang situation has been carried out correctly and efficiently.
