Gareth Bale has let his football do the talking.
The 31-year-old was in the headlines on Tuesday afternoon as he confirmed that he will be returning to Real Madrid once his loan deal at Tottenham Hotspur finishes at the end of the season.
Furthermore, Bale revealed the motivation behind his return to Spurs was to get match fit ahead of this summer’s European Championships.
“There’s no distraction for me,” Bale told a press conference ahead of Wales’ opening 2022 World Cup qualifier in Belgium, as per the Evening Standard. “I think the main reason I came to Spurs this year was to play football first and foremost.
“Going into the Euros I wanted to be match-fit.
“The original plan was to do a season at Spurs and after the Euros still have a year left at Real Madrid.
“My plan is to go back, that’s as far I have planned.”
Bale has shown signs of recovery in recent weeks with some really impressive performances at club level and has taken that form onto the international stage.
The forward claimed an assist for Harry Wilson to give Wales the lead against Belgium with a wonderful pass with the outside of his left boot.
As expected, there has been a big reaction to the pass from Spurs fans on social media.

“The fact that he’s used the club to essentially keep himself in shape for the Euros whilst treating it like a holiday reflects very poorly on him.”
