Odegaard top priority? Aubameyang to leave? Have your say on Arsenal’s summer transfer plans

The transfer window is officially open and this is probably Arsenal’s most important summer since 1995, the last time they did not qualify for Europe.

Now that summer they smashed the club’s record transfer fee and signed Dennis Bergkamp, which didn’t work out too badly for either party.

Arsenal fans would surely take to a repeated success such as that, and football.london understands that technical director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta will be looking to add as many as five signings this window.

Martin Odegaard is thought to be the main priority, but Arteta is also looking for a goalkeeper, right-back, centre-midfielder and potentially a forward.

Last summer Arsenal picked up Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian, Pablo Mari, Alex Runarsson and Cedric Soares on permanent transfers as well as Dani Ceballos on loan.

They dropped £76.5million on those transfers, so this summer will be looking to raise and recoup funds through various outgoings as well.

Amongst the names rumoured likely to leave are Granit Xhaka, Hector Bellerin and the club are even reported to be open to offers for club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

With the Gabonese international still having two years left on his contract, at 31 years old, it could be a good time to cash in after a difficult season last time.

Whatever happens, it’s certainly going to be the biggest challenge yet for Edu and Arteta to engineer their ideal rebuild.
