Patrick Vieira responds to Ben White’s stunning admission on his knowledge of the Arsenal legend

Patrick Vieira has claimed that Arsenal defender Ben White lacks ‘passion and love’ for the beautiful game amid his surprise admission on the Arsenal legend in the build-up to the Crystal Palace Premier League clash.

White’s comments on the Frenchmen caused a stir amongst the fanbase, with some supporters saying that the Englishmen’s admission was disgraceful whilst on the other side of the debate, other Arsenal fans had excused his comments due to his young age when Vieira was playing for the north London club in the No.4 shirt.

That is the same number that the £50million signing has been assigned after completing his summer switch from the south coast.

“I didn’t ever watch football when I was younger and still don’t now,” the England international told Sky Sports.

“I just love the game. I was always playing it, never watching it so I don’t know too much about the older generation.

“I know he was a very good player, but yeah I wouldn’t know the details.”

The current Crystal Palace manager has responded in a way that showcases his disappointment of the centre-half for his lack of knowledge and awareness of what came before him at this historic club.

“It matters,” Vieira responded (as quoted by the Express).

“Watching games shows the passion and love you have. Thierry [Henry] would watch any kind of game in any league in any country.

“He knew everything about the game. I played with Cesc Fabregas and the Spanish players watched games every day.

“It’s a different culture here in England – not better, not worse. But in France or Spain players watch football – also Italy where I played as well.”

This revelation from White and Vieira’s response to it certainly makes for an interesting sub-plot for the meeting between Arsenal and Crystal Palace on Monday night in the Premier League.
