Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Friday, July 23.
Gollini addresses impending Spurs move
Pierluigi Gollini is on the cusp of completing a move to Tottenham.
Spurs have agreed a deal with Atalanta to sign the Italian goalkeeper on loan for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign in a bid to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s options between the sticks.
The shot-stopper has passed a medical in Italy and has, according to reports, since travelled to England to be officially unveiled as a Spurs player, meaning he will become Espirito Santo’s first signing since he replaced Jose Mourinho at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Although the deal has not yet officially been completed, Gollini, speaking from an Italian airport, has revealed why he has decided on returning to England and joining Spurs.
“I had proposals from Italian clubs but Tottenham are the best one,” he said.
“I respect Hugo Lloris, he’s a great goalkeeper and I’m proud to work with him at Spurs.”
Spurs ‘offered’ Griezmann deal
Tottenham have been presented with the opportunity to sign Barcelona attacker Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.
The Spanish giants are keen to cut their cloth this summer in a bid to reduce their wage bill and the French forward could be one of a series of casualties.
Griezmann did appear set to join Atletico Madrid only recently, with Saul Niguez going the other way as part of a swap deal, but the deal broke down, meaning Griezmann is back at square one, although he would, it is understood, prefer to return to Atletico above moving anywhere else.
But with Barcelona keen to get him off their books, Griezmann could make a move to the Premier League.
Tottenham are keen to strengthen their attacking ranks, meaning it could be possible that they consider a move for the striker, even though it is felt a loan deal would be the most likely deal.

Spurs eye Danish star
Tottenham are weighing up a £21.3million bid for Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard, according to reports.
According to La Repubblica, as cited by Calciomercato, Spurs are lining up a move for the Denmark international who made a name for himself over the course of Euro 2020.
The winger, who is 21-years-old, scored two goals at the European Championship, including a spectacular free-kick in their 2-1 defeat to England at the semi-final stage.
The Serie A outfit hope to keep hold of Damsgaard this summer, but the financial impact brought about by the coronavirus pandemic could have a heavy influence on their decision. However, although Spurs are weighing up a bid of just over £21million, the Italian club value Damsgaard at around £29.9million.
