‘Reminds me of Kante’ – Chelsea fans loved special Conor Gallagher moment against Leeds

Excited Chelsea supporters have been singing the praises of young star Conor Gallagher after a sumptuous piece of skill during Crystal Palace’s 1-0 loss to Leeds United on Tuesday.

The Eagles conceded a dramatic stoppage-time penalty in the defeat, but the main highlight for many Blues fans came from the Stamford Bridge loanee.

The 21-year-old showed great feet when pinned into a corner by match-winner Raphinha and Adam Forshaw, evading their two challenges in quick succession before winning a clever free-kick to relieve defensive pressure for his side.

Gallagher has had a notable breakthrough season during his time at Crystal Palace.

The youngster has netted four times and grabbed three assists in 13 Premier League games since securing a year-long loan at Selhurst Park in the summer.

His impressive form earned him a call-up from Gareth Southgate, going on to make his England senior debut in the 10-0 thrashing of San Marino in November as the Three Lions booked their place at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

His moment of magic against Leeds only further fuelled many Chelsea fans’ eagerness to bring him back to the club.

@ofentse_kgotle: He needs to come back home.

@N_Chauke__: I need him in Chelsea’s midfield.

@kap_Davie: Kovacic is that you behind the scenes?

@mandasethian: This guy is gonna be a baller for us next season.

@agaba_cedric: CALL HIM BACK IN JAN.

@TheScore01: Reminds me of Kante with technique and dribbling – no, not as good as him obviously. He could literally play anywhere – pivot, inside forward on the right, box to box. Must be with Chelsea next season.

@King_Wale3: Recall him I beg. Saul and Barkley can’t be playing ahead of him

Since making his league debut for Palace against Brentford in August, Gallagher has started every Premier League game for Patrick Vieira‘s side.
