Romelu Lukaku to start against Man United as Chelsea ‘agree’ to sell Christian Pulisic

Here are your football.london Chelsea morning headlines on Thursday, November 25.

Romelu Lukaku hints at Manchester United return

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has hinted that he is close to returning to full fitness after what he was seen doing post-Juventus Champions League win.

Lukaku, 28, suffered an ankle injury in the 4-0 triumph on Malmo in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge back in October.

It seemed likely that Chelsea supporters would see the club-record signing back and featuring in the latter stages of the 4-0 win against the Serie A side on Tuesday night, but manager Thomas Tuchel decided against taking that risk despite what he alluded too in his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon.

“Not sure yet,” Tuchel told reporters.

Tuchel will want his talismanic figure to be past a minimum level of fitness if he is to start the encounter, as he looks to get him back up to pace post-injury. And football.london spotted something after the final whistle which was encouraging for all to see from a Chelsea perspective.

Lukaku himself was filmed running freely with a large proportion of the Blues substitutes on the night which can only spell good news ahead of his returning prospects this weekend.

Chelsea ready to sell Christian Pulisic abroad

Christian Pulisic has asked to leave Chelsea with the Blues ready to let him go – if it is to a club outside the Premier League and providing their £42million valuation is met, the Metro report.

The 23-year-old forward enjoyed an impressive first season in English football after arriving at Stamford Bridge for a fee of £58million in 2019.

According to El Nacional, Pulisic is now tired of waiting for his chances in west London with his agent asking the club to sanction a move ahead of the January transfer window.

Pulisic was hauled off in the second half of the Blues’ win against Juventus on Tuesday night and consequently received a lower mark in football.london’s ratings from the game.

Thomas Tuchel hits back at Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea criticism as PSG boss linked to Man Utd

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he isn’t worried with what Mauricio Pochettino thinks about his style of football amid rumours that the Paris Saint-Germain manager could be on the verge of moving to Manchester United.

Tuchel’s “defensive” side swept aside Group H leaders Juventus 4-0 on Tuesday night courtesy of goals from Trevoh Chalobah,Reece James,Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner.

This inspired performance came shortly after current Paris Saint-Germain boss Pochettino had criticised the European Champions for their style of football in his explanation of what he is trying to achieve in the French capital.

“I don’t listen too much to what people say about us,” Tuchel admitted in his post-match press conference.
