Ruben Neves criticised Arsenal players for the way they celebrated after Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Wolves 1-0 on Thursday night.

The north London outfit had been winless since the turn of the year, failing to score in each of their last five fixtures before travelling to the West Midlands for a crucial Premier League clash.

Top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United had both slipped up on Wednesday and Tuesday respectively, leaving the Gunners with a golden chance to close the gap on fourth-placed West Ham United, who defeated Watford 1-0 on Tuesday evening.

Arteta and co. were able to clinch all three points thanks to a first-half finish from Brazilian centre-half Gabriel Magalhaes, who converted from close range from a corner in the 25th minute.

However, Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves was left unimpressed by the goal as well as Arsenal’s celebrations after the game.

Speaking after the full-time whistle, the Portuguese star said: “We did well but we are struggling to score goals and conceding a lot on set-pieces.

“With their goal there is some doubt about whether it was a foul or not but that’s football. We are used to these decisions.

“We need to improve a lot on scoring goals because we are creating chances but we’re not good enough in that part of the game.

“I can accept the decision about their goal but in some games they give it and in some games, they don’t. They need to do the same decisions in every game because it’s frustrating for us.

“We saw the way they celebrated the win and that shows the level we are. I didn’t see Arsenal celebrating like this in the past 10 years – it was like they won the league.”
