Santiago Gonzalez and Andres Molteni captured their second ATP Tour team title on Saturday at the Stockholm Open. The South American pair overcame Pakistan’s Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer 6-2, 6-2 in 68 minutes.
Gonzalez and Molteni have now won 14 of 19 matches since joining forces in August, and clinched their first crown together one month later at the Astana Open in Nur-Sultan (d. Erlich/Vasilevski).
Molteni told ATPTour.com, “It was a great week, the first time for me in Stockholm. Playing with a full crowd was amazing and it was great to finish the year with our second ATP Tour title.”
“We played very well today, aggressive at the beginning,” Gonzalez told ATPTour.com. “They broke us back in the second set, but we maintained our level and finished strong. We can go home happy!”
Gonzalez, 38, has now lifted 16 ATP Tour doubles titles, while 33-year-old Molteni has eight crowns.
