Son Heung-min sends message to Tottenham fans ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea clashes

Son Heung-min sent a message to Tottenham fans ahead of the forthcoming season with supporters returning to the ground.

The South Korea captain, who recently just signed a new four-year contract at the club, has enjoyed his return to action for Spurs following the summer break.

The 29-year-old has hit the ground running under new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, netting two goals in two games.

Without Son, Tottenham kicked off their pre-season with a clash against Leyton Orient that was dedicated to former Spurs player and O’s manager Justin Edinburgh in support of the JE3 foundation.

The game ended 1-1 and marked the start of Nuno’s tenure as Spurs boss, as well as a first senior goal for Dane Scarlett.

Tottenham then faced Colchester United and MK Dons, which saw Son open the scoring each of the fixtures, setting the tone ahead of the club’s daunting Premier League opening day clash versus champions Manchester City.

Son, who was deployed as a No.9 in each of his returning games, filmed a video following a successful opening pair of pre-season games expressing his delight at playing in front fans without any Covid restrictions.

With his trademark smile from ear to ear, Son said: “Beautiful stadium, beautiful stadium, look at this. Amazing guys! Thank you for coming and supporting us. Come on you Spurs!”

Following Spurs’ 3-1 win over Colchester United in their third pre-season clash, Son and the rest of the Tottenham contingent will be looking ahead to the Mind Series.

The Mind Series is a handful of pre-season clashes between Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal in aid of supporting better mental health and well-being for communities as Covid restrictions begin to be lifted.

Speaking to the Mind website ahead of the charitable event, Fabio Paratici revealed his excitement ahead of the London derby clashes and that he is pleased the three clubs have been able to come together and unite for such a great cause.

Paratici said: “We are delighted to be participating in The Mind Series – another fantastic example of how football clubs can unite in support of such important causes.

“We expect the matches to be fiercely competitive London derbies that will get the fans excited for the season ahead, whilst providing perfect preparation for the players.

“The interest this will create will in turn provide a huge and much-needed boost to Mind – a charity that has such a vital role to play in the lives of so many following the difficult times we have all experienced – as well as our own Foundations.”
