Arsenal will need a significant cash injection in order to start competing for the Premier League title again.
That is the view of legendary former manager George Graham.
Graham, who soured his relationship with the Gunners supporters when he took over as manager of their fierce north London rivals Tottenham in 1998, won two league titles, one FA Cup and two League Cups while in charge of Arsenal from 1986 to 1995.
The Gunners enjoyed much more success during the Arsene Wenger years, but Graham thinks any glory like that is a long way off, unless notoriously miserly owner Stan Kroenke dips his hand in his pocket for transfers this summer.
Speaking to our friends at the Express, Graham believes Mikel Arteta is doing a good job at the Emirates, despite the fact the side are tenth in the Premier League table.
And the only way he will improve things is with money to spend on better players.
Arsenal have signed the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey under Arteta, as well as attracting Real Madrid ace Martin Odegaard to the club on loan.
Graham called on Kroenke to invest in the playing squad to give Arteta the squad he needs to challenge for the title again.
He said: “They have got problems, but they can rectify them with three players.
“Arteta is doing a very good job. But while he has improved the players, he has only improved them to a certain point. They have got to have natural ability to get to the next level.

“Arsenal have outstanding young players, but they need help. Quality players around them to show them the way. They need to go out and buy two or three players, each costing £75million to £100million.
“Arsenal had waited 18 years before I won my first title in 1989. It’s been 17 years now. The sooner that money is spent, the better.”
The ball is in your court, Mr Kroenke.
