Tanguy Ndombele and Houssem Aouar swap deal refuted as Tottenham transfer strategy is discussed

Here’s all the news from around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Nuno transcript

Nuno Espirito Santo spoke to the media for the first time since being appointed Tottenham head coach ahead of Saturday’s match at Leyton Orient.

As expected, the former Wolves boss was asked a range of questions about his time so far in north London as well as the future of Harry Kane who has been linked with a move to Manchester City.

Although one of the main takeaways from the press conference was an exciting message to supporters.

“What we want is to make our fans proud, to make them enjoy their players, love their players, this is our focus, let’s make our fans proud, to create a good atmosphere, help the players throughout the season and every moment,” he said.

“I think they will enjoy. This is what I am telling the players, ‘Let’s enjoy ourselves’.

“Our football must be the reflection in the mirror of what we are doing, what we want to do and I am totally positive the fans are going to love it.”

Tottenham Q&A

The transfer window has been open for a month now, with Tottenham’s new managing director of football Fabio Paratici working on getting players in and out of the club.

Spurs have been linked heavily with Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde this week as well as Bologna’s versatile defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

But how likely are any of those deals to be completed?

Swap deal refuted

In perhaps one of the more surprising transfer rumours of the summer so far, Tanguy Ndombele was linked with a surprise return to former club Lyon.

With Houssem Aouar heading in the opposite direction.

ESPN claimed that Tottenham were willing to offer the Ligue 1 outfit the opportunity to reunite with their former player who has struggled to adapt to English football since sealing club-record €60million (£56million) transfer a couple of summers ago.

But as seen in the tweet above, Telefoot have moved to refute such talk of a Ndombele and Aouar exchange.

With that said, Spurs are said to be one of several clubs who have asked about signing the latter this summer.
