Thiago Silva proves his loyalty to Chelsea with a contract hint and must be rewarded – Anita Abayomi

Thiago Silva signs a new contract and the crowd goes absolutely mental. The fans in the build into a crescendo’s as they sing “oh Thiago Silva!!”.

That’s exactly how I picture it in my head – the day Thiago Silva renews his contract with the Blues.

It’s almost a certainty now as his wife Belle Silva hinted over Instagram.

Don’t you just love the Silvas? A real Chelsea family, a part of the community as well as the actual team itself.

On top of all of this, Thiago Silva is just an amazing asset to this team. The second he was signed, several Chelsea fans already knew the standards he would set for the team going forward. He has not failed to live up to expectations to this date.

Following his stellar performance against Leicester over the weekend, he deserves nothing less than an extension.

Age is just a number when your class is permanent. Chelsea must tie the Brazilian down for three reasons.

He brings stability to the backline

Do you remember what it was like before the arrival of Thiago Silva? A scruffy back four, struggling to keep clean sheets. A wild Antonio Rudiger, an untamed Andreas Christensen coupled with a ruthless Kurt Zouma. A lack of stability.

Silva’s immediate impact was undeniable. Despite having a shaky start to his Chelsea career, he quickly picked up the pace and adapted brilliantly to the Premier League. He visibly bought order to the backline with his commanding presence.

In several matches you see him orchestrating, leading, and organising the backline, ensuring stability. Up until this day, he remains the loud voice in the back three ensuring nothing but organisation and calm for the defence.

It’s quite funny because you wonder, how does this man who barely speaks English somehow manage to be the loudest man on the pitch and maintain such stability between English speaking centre backs? The language of football is universal… when you have the sauce to back it up.

He plays for the badge

Call me crazy, but there is nothing better than having a defender who will put his body on the line for the badge. In the short space of time that he has been here, he has understood the influence of the fans and the importance of the badge that he wears.

As a football fan, you want to see your defenders channel their passion through their actions on the pitch. You want to feel that they are doing everything they can to keep that clean sheet or to prevent goals.

You can see the passion in Silva’s demeanour. The reason why we admired John Terry for so long was because of this same passion. Of course, both players are just world-class in their own right, but they both treat the club as if it’s their baby.

Looking back at the Champions League final, Thiago Silva was injured halfway into the first half and you could just empathise immediately. The tears came falling down and you could just see that he felt like he let the club down as he walked off coving his face with his top. It didn’t stop him from again being the loudest man on the pitch from the sidelines. We could hear him over the crowd, we could see him pacing on the touchline. That’s a man who loves the club and a man that will do what it takes to win and still has the passion to keep winning.

Trust me when I say that players who don’t share this passion cannot take your club to the next level.

Chelsea need some positive contract news

God, we’ve been through it this time around, haven’t we? Chelsea currently have four centre backs out of contract at the end of the season? What were we thinking?! I cannot put into words how stressful the contract negotiations have been for the fans.

Will Rudiger come to an agreement? Why have Christensen’s terms changed? Will Chelsea have to find a new defender? What if that new defender cannot adapt to the Premier League? Is Trevoh Chalobah ready to fill such big shoes?

I could go on with the questions that are scrambling through my mind right now.

The point is, we need some good news and we need it fast. Cesar Azpilicueta is also amongst those who are out of contract by the end of the season. At this point, if we don’t sort out the contracts fast, we will be left with half a backline.

Let’s sort that out, Marina. Please and thank you.

Chelsea fans can unanimously agree that a new contract for Silva is a top priority. By the looks of it, he and his family are happy in England and will be looking to stay for a couple more years, according to her Instagram post.

Her post was in response to the question “Have you left London or just moved to a different house in London”. To which she replied,

“Just from home. We still have a few years here”.

I don’t think it gets more obvious than that. All that’s left to say is, “Chelsea announce Silva!”
