Thomas Partey makes honest admission over form as Arsenal star has ‘problem brewing’

Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Saturday, December 4.

Partey makes honest admission

Thomas Partey has admitted he has not shown the level of performance he is capable of in recent games and has insisted he is doing his all to regain his form.

The Ghana international came in for some criticism on social media during Arsenal‘s defeat to Manchester United on Thursday, and speaking after the game, Partey admitted he is not playing to the level he knows he can.

He told Arsenal’s official website: “I think the team came out to win, we did everything we could, we played well, we created a lot of chances and I think that we were unlucky.

“They scored two goals and then a penalty. The team tried to improve, go forward and look for a goal, for the equaliser, but in the end it’s football, we have to forget about this game, we have to think of our next game, we have to do better and also to win.

“The team is improving, each and everyone is doing our best. For me, I have to keep on doing my best, keep trying, keep improving, try to come back to my best, because the team needs me, the team needs us.”

Keown spots Tierney ‘problem’

Martin Keown thinks Kieran Tierney could have a “problem brewing” after he was left out of the Arsenal side again against Manchester United.

Nuno Tavares has now started six Premier League games on the bounce, with Tierney’s last start for the Gunners being in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on October 18.

Keown, when speaking on talkSPORT, via HITC, believes there could be a “problem” at Arsenal in regards to Tierney’s lack of game time recently.

When asked why Tierney has seemingly fallen out of favour, Keown said: “I don’t know. I think that is a mystery. Tavares has done exceptionally well. Maybe the manager doesn’t believe in Tierney as much as we might believe in him.

“(Tavares) made a few mistakes at Anfield and the manager said; ‘I’m not gonna drop him’. I think there’s a problem brewing with Tierney.”

Henry makes Aubameyang claim

Thierry Henry believes something “is not right” at Arsenal after Mikel Arteta substituted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with over 10 minutes to go against Manchester United.

Aubameyang was taken off with over 10 minutes remaining on the clock, with the Gunners 3-2 down at the time and Henry has shared his thoughts on the matter.

Speaking on Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of the Premier League clash, the Frenchman said: “Aubameyang is your captain. He is your goal scorer. You put him as your captain.

“15 minutes to go, you’re losing 3-2 and you take him off. 3-2 away from home, you need a goal and you take your captain, your symbol, off the field. You know he can score you goals so something is not right there.”
