Thomas Tuchel has discovered his next Chelsea undroppable after £33.4m transfer decision

Chelsea could boast one of the most exciting attacking options across Europe, let alone the Premier League next season.

In Thomas Tuchel‘s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, there are always three spots available in attack.

Those slots were filled by Mason Mount, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz in last season’s Champions League final win over Manchester City – a game that saw the former assist the latter for the only goal of the game.

But such is Tuchel’s luxury that he can also call upon the likes of Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi and potentially Romelu Lukaku to fill those roles when the 2021/22 season gets underway.

It’s no secret that Chelsea are keen to sign a new centre-forward to solve their well-documented goalscoring issues from last season that saw them dominate many games without being ruthless.

Lukaku would go some way to turning the Blues into genuine Premier League title contenders and Goal are reporting that the west London outfit are readying an offer of €130million (£110m) in the coming days after seeing three bids rejected by Inter Milan.

Should the 28-year-old return to Stamford Bridge, then there will be a lot of intrigue as to what will be Tuchel’s first-choice attacking trio as the season progresses.

One would assume Lukaku will nail down the centre-forward role thus leaving Havertz, Hudson-Odoi, Mount and Pulisic to fight for the other two slots behind the Belgian.

However, there’s another name that Tuchel has been urged to consider.

Hakim Ziyech has been one of Chelsea’s best performers in pre-season, following up a hat-trick against Peterborough United with a brace in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

The Morocco international was the Blues’ first signing last summer when Marina Granovskaia moved quickly to agree a £33.4m deal with Ajax shortly after the 2020 January transfer window had closed.

And despite an encouraging start to his career in west London, Ziyech wasn’t able to command a regular place in the side following the appointment of Tuchel.

That could be all change next season as some Chelsea fans on Reddit are suggesting that Ziyech can be a secret weapon for Tuchel given the number of games his side will play.

cereal_22 said: “I love the competition at the position but I REALLY hope Hakim gets to shine this season.”

Linkin_Mark said: “Good teams have many options on different positions. We will play 5 tournaments this season, we need many good players!”

bfofree said: “Well sure, that’d be great, but you can’t play 12 guys. Depth is never ever a bad thing though. Hope he doesn’t lose his edge playing less than half of our games.”

Although, some are adamant that Ziyech has done enough in pre-season to be considered one of Tuchel’s ‘undroppables’ at least for the opening few games of the campaign.

walder8998 said: “Ziyech will be very important early on as he looks match fit and if he performs during our tough start to the season it will be hard for someone to take his place.”

mchisholm41 said: “My hot take is Ziyech wins a PL POTM award and becomes a nailed on starter for most of the season, love this lad.”

zogoed said: “I agree. I’ve noticed him tracking back more and breaking up opposition buildup with nicely timed “tackles” to get possession back this preseason. Maybe I’m wrong, but I seem to recall Ziyech looking nearly nonexistent in these same respects last season.

“He looks fit and motivated, excited to see what he can do this season.”
