Top pundit has Chelsea out of the Champions League places at the end of the season

Gary Lineker has been predicting the Premier League’s final top five, and he’s left Chelsea out of it after two bad results.

We’re into the final stage of the Premier League season now, and the table is really looking tight at the top. On the Rest is Football, Gary Lineker predicted which teams he thought would join Arsenal and Man City in the top five places, earning a Champions League spot.

“I would say [Aston] Villa probably, they’ve got a lot of fixtures. The addition of Tammy Abraham will help them, they’ll be in the top five,” Lineker began.

“I think the other spot is between Liverpool and Chelsea. I think United will do it, they’ve got momentum. If they don’t, I think they’ll finish in the top five.

“Chelsea and Liverpool are both erratic. If you pinned me against the wall and asked me to give you the top five; Arsenal, City, Villa, Man United and Liverpool, Chelsea just missing out.”

There’s a sense that perhaps the fact we finished last season with a winning run is convincing a few people that it will be just as easy this time around.
