Tottenham fans left furious after Nuno Espirito Santo decision vs Manchester United

Tottenham fans hoping to pile on the misery upon a disjointed Manchester United side would certainly have been disappointed by the display in north London.

Fresh from a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford last weekend, United were there for taking with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the brink.

However, Spurs failed to get a grip of the game and a disappointing first half saw the hosts go into the interval ahead following Cristiano Ronaldo’s well-taken volley.

As a result, Spurs needed a response in the second half if they were to turn the game on it’s head and secure a result.

While it was clear that changes were made in the second period, Spurs fans were left puzzled by the decision made by manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Lucas Moura was one of Tottenham’s better performers on the field but it was the Brazilian that was sacrificed for the introduction of Steven Bergwijn.

The substitution was met by a plethora of boos from the fans inside the stadium, which echoed around the arena, along with chants of: ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’.

It was a similar situation on social media, where those not in attendance and instead watching on from around the world were equally frustrated.

The atmosphere boiled over once again when Ronaldo fed a pass through for Edinson Cavani to finish, doubling United’s advantage.

That may now see the pendulum swing in terms of pressure for the managers, with Nuno left in quite a pickle.
