Tottenham predicted team vs Brentford: Conte keeps midfielders frustrated on the bench

Antonio Conte will likely continue to frustrate a couple of his midfielders as Tottenham Hotspur welcome Brentford on Thursday evening in the Premier League.

The Spurs head coach had already chosen his 11 starting Tottenham players for the Burnley match that never was and that team was announced just 14 minutes before the game was postponed.

Conte must now decided whether the prospect of a home against promoted Brentford could require a different tactical approach and therefore perhaps require different personnel.

Spurs face as much of a battle against Thomas Frank’s side, who have shown to be tough opposition for the ‘bigger’ sides in the Premier League so far this season, as they would have done at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.

Conte’s choice in defence is whether to revert to the slightly more attacking Japhet Tanganga rather than Davinson Sanchez on the right of the back three with the latter keeping his place despite a poor display in the embarrassing Europa Conference League defeat to NS Mura.

In midfield, the Italian might choose to bring in a more attacking midfielder like Tanguy Ndombele rather than select both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp.

However, with that pairing getting the nod against Burnley, despite Skipp’s 90 minutes in Slovenia, it looks like Ndombele and Harry Winks may have to continue to be frustrated on the bench.

The likelihood is that Conte will give the Burnley XI another chance to play.

That means his team to face Brentford would be:

3-4-3: Lloris; Sanchez, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Reguilon; Lucas, Kane, Son.
