Chelsea look set to be busy in the final week of the 2021 summer transfer window, if reports are to be believed.
The Blues have made two signings so far this summer, with Marcus Bettinelli (free transfer) and Romelu Lukaku (£97.5million) arriving at Stamford Bridge on permanent deals.
However, despite almost £100million being splashed out on Lukaku, the west London club do not seem to be done just there.
Another man that is apparently being looked at is Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
The 26-year-old still has just under five years remaining on his contract with the La Liga champions, but has been heavily linked with an exit from the Spanish capital over the past few weeks.
Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in Saul, but according to a report from the Telegraph, Chelsea are ‘weighing up’ a loan offer for the Spain international.
But the article does state that any move for Saul will be reliant on offloading some fringe midfielders before the end of the month.
Chelsea supporters have now taken to Twitter to react to the news that they could be set to make a move for Saul – and the majority of views being shared seem to be positive.
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone recently spoke about his midfielder’s future and highlighted his significance to his side.
“And I consider that Saul became Saul by playing everywhere. He or many of those around him see it as something negative.
“He is very important for Atletico because he can play as a defensive midfielder, right wing, midfielder, as a double middle… He gives us a lot of situations to be able to count on him.
“Without having a season at his best, we count on him. He is a player who in that version and playing what the coach needs, performs very well.”
