‘We saved football!’ – Chelsea fans go nuts as Roman Abramovich makes Super League decision

Chelsea fans have taken to social media and are reacting to some very important news.

And it has nothing to do with Tuesday night’s Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion – a match that will see Thomas Tuchel’s side move into the top four with victory at Stamford Bridge.

The big news coming out of the club is that football.london understands they are preparing documentation to leave the European Super League.

Chelsea were one of the 12 founding members of the new breakaway league alongside Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid.

The proposed plans would see the 12 founding members, three others who have not been named, and a further five invited clubs compete in an annual competition alongside domestic leagues.

In addition, the founding clubs would be guaranteed qualification every year, gaining access to astronomical economical advantages.

With that said, the plans have led to huge criticism throughout the game.

And as a result, football.london understands Chelsea are preparing to announce their official withdrawal from the controversial European Super League,

Given the initial reaction from fans to the announcement was negative, it’s no surprise that reports of a swift exit has garnered a huge response on social media.

Take a look at what’s been said on Twitter…
