Manchester United should go and sign Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori in the summer, according to Ally McCoist.
United are being linked with a host of new centre-backs after some concerning moments at the back for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer throughout the 2020/21 season.
The likes of Pau Torres and Raphael Varane have been prominent in the transfer rumour mill, but former Rangers boss McCoist name-checked Blues defender Tomori as a possible option for the Manchester-based club.
“I still think the centre-back position is a key priority for Manchester United,” McCoist said on talkSPORT, via the Express.
“An interesting one is [Fikayo] Tomori, what about him? Would you go and get him? They definitely need someone to play alongside Harry Maguire.
“[Jadon] Sancho would be a great signing, [Harry] Kane would be a fantastic signing, [Jack] Grealish would be a wonderful signing, but I don’t think it’s top of Manchester United’s priority list.
“I still think a central defender is top of that list. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them strengthen in that department.”
Tomori spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at AC Milan – with the English centre-back impressing during his short stint at the San Siro.
According to reports coming out of Italy, Milan are determined to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent basis before the start of next season.

Reports suggest that Tomori’s loan deal included a £25million option to buy, which the Serie A outfit are keen to take advantage of.
Milan boss Stefano Piolo recently made his feelings on the matter perfectly clear.
He said: “We want to buy Tomori on a permanent deal from Chelsea.
“Our intention is clear and also Fikayo’s decision (staying at Milan).”
