Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been aiming to impress Thomas Tuchel with his footwork in pre-season training.
The Spaniard, who has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, has been busy in pre-season training as the Blues continue their preparations for the upcoming 2021/22 season.
Heading into the new campaign, he currently finds himself behind Edouard Mendy in the battle for a starting berth, with the Senegalese having impressed in his debut season in England.
Nevertheless, it was Kepa’s turn to catch the eye this time with his great form in Blues training.
In a video released on Chelsea’s official Instagram account, it showed the Spaniard hitting the crossbar eight times in succession alongside the caption: “Light work for you, @KepaArrizabalaga!”
It appears that it also left former Blues stopper Petr Cech hugely impressed, too, with the former Chelsea icon offering the Spaniard a round of applause in emoji form.
Kepa will hope that his form in training is enough to see him earn a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s thinking.
The former Athletic Club stopper made just 14 appearances in all competitions last season with reports suggesting that Chelsea were open to cashing in on the Spaniard.
Upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel suggested that Kepa was to be afforded a fresh start after he replaced Frank Lampard.
Speaking in February, the German said: “Maybe also the circumstances of his transfer maybe a little bit on his shoulders. That was the impression from outside.
“From inside I see a nice guy, I see a nice personality, an open personality, a hard-working guy, with obviously a lot of quality.
“So the good thing for him is that we start new, it’s a new start for him. I don’t have a history with him and I hope there will be no difficulties, because I don’t see them coming.”
