What Mason Mount told his father after Champions League success that should excite Chelsea fans

Mason Mount immediately turned his attentions to winning more trophies with Chelsea after lifting the UEFA Champions League, his father has revealed.

The Blues midfielder played a pivotal role in the club lifting their second major European title against Manchester City at the weekend, with the celebrations being enjoyed by players and fans alike.

Mount was joined on the pitch after the game by his family, including father Tony.

And he has said that the Chelsea youngster, who is set to be involved with England at the European Championships this summer, was already setting his sights on domestic success with the Blues.

Speaking to The Byline podcast, Mount senior said: “When we were on the pitch after the game, I grabbed him by his ears I think and I just said ‘you’ve won it, you’ve won the Champions League. Can you believe it?’.

“He just went ‘yeah, I’m going to win the Premier League now’.”

As a matter of fact, the 22-year-old was so transfixed on his ambition to lift his first-ever league crown that he had to be reminded to make the most of the celebrations at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto.
