Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is a January transfer target for Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach, reports The Sun.
The 22-year-old is out-of-contract at the end of the season, though if he were to leave for a free, the report claims that his next club would have to compensate the Gunners for their role in developing the player.
The report also claims that the England youth international wants to move away in search of game time, meaning the Arsenal hierarchy may be open to accepting a lower valuation for the player, which has put many clubs on alert.
A potential move could leave Edu with a transfer conundrum in the summer. Mikel Arteta may end up losing both Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette at the end of their deals in the summer, leaving just Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and 20-year-old Folarin Balogun as the side’s only recognised centre-forwards.
The manager had also answered on Nketiah’s future in October and he was full of praise for the striker: ““We had a situation in the summer and there are still issues to resolve, but I have belief that Eddie is going to be a top, top player – hopefully for Arsenal.
“I’m happy to have him in the team, I rate him really highly and, from my side, I want him to stay.”
However, the centre-forward is yet to break through in the Premier League. He has made just two appearances for the senior team so far, both in the Carabao Cup, where he has scored in each outing.
If Arsenal were to be left with just the two recognised strikers, it could prompt them to make a move for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, who they have been heavily linked with in recent days.
