English Premier League trophy to go on display for first time in New Zealand


One of world football’s most recognisable prizes will visit New Zealand this month when the English Premier League trophy is displayed in Auckland for the first time.

The silverware will be showcased on Sunday March 22. 2026. at Te Komititanga Square in Auckland’s city centre as part of a fan event organised by Sky, the Premier League’s exclusive broadcaster in New Zealand.

Fans will be able to see the trophy up close, take photographs and watch a live Premier League broadcast on a big screen during the open-air activation, which runs from 9am to 3pm.

The public event is free to attend.

The match between Leeds United and Brentford will be screened live from 9am as part of the event programme.

The Premier League trophy stands more than one metre tall and weighs over 25 kilograms. It features the engraved names of every club to have won the competition since the league began in 1992.

Sky Sport marketing lead Mark Trowill said bringing the trophy to New Zealand would give local supporters a rare opportunity to experience one of football’s most famous prizes.

“The Premier League trophy is one of the most recognisable symbols in global sport, and this is the first time Kiwi fans will have the chance to experience it in person,” Trowill said.

“Sky is incredibly proud to bring the excitement and prestige of the Premier League to New Zealand in such a unique, fan-first way.”

The visit comes as interest in the competition continues to grow locally. Sky say audiences watching Premier League matches on Sky Sport and Sky Open are up 20% this season compared with the previous year, while digital engagement across Sky Sport Now and Sky Go has increased by 25%.
