By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s U17 Men’s National Team are set to begin their Concacaf U17 Qualifiers campaign on Friday, opening Group F action at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City. The 20‑man strong squad have been in Guatemala since Sunday, where they completed their preparations with a convincing 4–0 friendly victory over ACAFUT Tigritos in Flores.

Belize are one of 34 nations competing in the 2026 Concacaf U17 Qualifiers, a tournament that sends only the eight group winners to the FIFA U‑17 World Cup Qatar 2026. The format leaves no room for error, and the Belizeans know that topping Group F is the only path forward.

Belize’s group includes Curaçao, Cuba, and El Salvador, all of whom they will face over a five‑day stretch.

The Belize U17s enter the competition, boosted by the presence of Marlon Meza, the Mount Pleasant midfielder who is studying and playing in Jamaica and who has already earned selection to the A‑level Belize Men’s National Team. His senior‑level experience makes him the most seasoned player in the squad and a key figure in guiding the group through the qualifiers.

The Football Federation of Belize said the team’s preparation reflects months of discipline and commitment, and expressed gratitude to the clubs, schools, coaches, and families who have supported the players’ development.

With the squad settled, preparations complete, and the opening whistle fast approaching, Belize now turn their full focus to Friday’s kickoff. On paper, topping the group and securing a historic ticket to the FIFA U‑17 World Cup may seem like an improbability, but Belize’s young players are embracing the challenge head‑on.
