Guyana’s Under-17 Golden Jaguars arrived safely in Honduras in the early hours of yesterday morning as they gear up for the upcoming CONCACAF U 17 World Cup Qualifiers, which commenced yesterday and concludes on February 12. The squad has since settled into camp and remains in high spirits as they prepare to begin their competitive campaign.
Their first training session was scheduled for last evening as preparations intensified ahead of their opening fixture.
Guyana has been drawn in Group H alongside Bermuda, host nation Honduras, and neighbouring Suriname. The Golden Jaguars will open their tournament against Bermuda tomorrow from 18:00hrs at the Estadio Francisco Morazán. They will then face Honduras on Sunday, February 8, before concluding their group campaign against Suriname on February 11.
The tournament features 34 teams divided into eight groups, competing in a single round-robin format. Only the group winners will secure automatic qualification, raising the stakes for each fixture.
