Mara Sugar FC, after a triumphant season in the National Super League (NSL), is set to make their mark in the FKF Premier League (FKFPL). The club’s promotion comes as a result of their exceptional performance, where they emerged as the NSL winners.
Confident and Ready for the Top Tier
David Owino Ouma, a key midfielder for Mara Sugar FC, expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to compete at the highest level of Kenyan football. In an exclusive interview with Mozzart Sport, Ouma emphasized that Mara Sugar is not entering the FKFPL just to participate but to make a significant impact.
“I believe that we have all that we need to compete in the FKF Premier League and challenge for titles. We have quality young players who are talented and willing to push through,” Ouma stated.
Prepared for Challenges Ahead
Acknowledging the different dynamics and heightened competition in the FKFPL, Ouma highlighted the team’s readiness to face these challenges head-on. The squad, led by their coach, is united in their belief that they can successfully navigate the demands of the top tier.
“We know that the top tier is a different ball game and comes with different challenges and levels. We are all geared up for the challenge. There is great belief within the squad, led by the coach, that we will manage it,” he added.
Personal Goals and Aspirations
On a personal note, Ouma is focused on staying injury-free in the upcoming season. His previous season was marred by injuries, hindering his goal of netting 10 goals; he managed to score only four. Ouma is now determined to reach his target and contribute significantly to the team’s success in the Premier League.
“I did not achieve my season’s targets. I scored 4 goals instead of the 10 that I had set for myself as a midfielder. However, I am determined to achieve that in the Premier League and just hope that I will not have injuries that will keep me out of the team,” he said.
Dedication to a Fallen Leader
In a heartfelt tribute, Ouma dedicated the team’s promotion to their late Chief Executive Officer and Team Manager, Thomas Oduor, whose leadership and vision were instrumental in the club’s ascent.
As Mara Sugar FC gears up for their debut in the FKFPL, the team’s spirit and determination signal a promising season ahead, with aspirations not just to compete but to excel and honor the legacy of their late leader.
